A Police investigation revealed that many shops with video style gamming in them are using these machines illegally by having the machines give cash payouts.
Under
Georgian law these types of video gambling machines may only pay out store credit or specific store items or services, but several shop owners have rigged the machines to pay out cash.
Two businesses have already been busted for this but no arrests have been made. The police have sent the case over to the district attorney for them to make the decision if prosecution is required.
Police will be notifying all business owners who posses video gambling machines that anyone caught with a video gambling machine that pays out cash will be fined, may be imprisoned and may have their business license removed permanently.
Police started an investigation into these machines when relatives from people spending all their money on these machines started to call the police to complain, the police started an undercover investigation.
Most business that have the machines legally are offering prizes like soda or free food, but people are not going to stand there putting money in a video gambling machine all day to win a soda or a hot dog, so to brig in more money some shops started offering cash prizes.
