Roxbury Cops Object Prosecution

The "5th Street Club" in Dover brought severe consequences

Nearly one year ago, an illegal casino the "5th Street Club" began its operation in Dover. What was strange about this establishment is the fact of two Roxbury police officers running the place despite the Roxbury Police Chief Mark Noll warnings regarding illegal activity. When police stormed the club, it confiscated a five-month income and gambling equipment. The state pressed charges and suspended police officers from their jobs along with four other people, involved in the business.

Police officers' lawyers want to dismiss the indictment, claiming the pair collaborated on what they believed was a legitimate, social club investment and there is no proof that their actions had any connection to misusing their public positions to benefit themselves. However, the convicted officers would loose big time - their jobs and pensions. According to Morris County Chief Assistant Prosecutor John Redden, the emphasis on legal advice that the owners say they received before opening "5th Street Club" has no credible evidence since a social club refused to give interview to the prosecutor's office or to appear before a grand jury. At present time, Roxbury police officers are waiting for the verdict.
