Many members of the online gambling industry got together on Wednesday 25 January for the 10 years celebration of the first online sports betting site in the world, intertops.com.
In 1994, Intertops creator Detlef Train and the company head of technical Ian Sherington first discussed the possibility of developing an online gaming site. Train founder said that being pioneers in the industry, they had to create everything by themselves, including payment methods, credit card processing, etc.
Intertop online gambling site was a success from its first days. By 1999, they added to the online sports betting site the first Microgaming online casino games. Due to monopoly laws, the company had to move its operations from Salzburg, Austria to Antigua in the Caribbean. Nowadays, intertops is still located in Antigua and it serves millions of across the world online sports bettors.
