Jim Davenport Becomes Poker Pro

Jim won "Become a Poker Pro" tournament and plans to concur the world of professional players

Jim Davenport, a 25-year-old investment banker form Corona del Mar, won "Become a Poker Pro" event, organized by Poker Room.com, and he is not a professional player. Before such surprising occurrence, Davenport had been average low-limit player, who mostly played for fun with friends and took the occasional trip to the local casino for a little pocket money.

The course of events drastically changed when Davenport gained his ticket to the professional tournament arena with 60.000 dollars in spending cash and an endorsement prize package valued at 250.000 dollars. The package gives him plenty of advantages, like a passage into most of the major tournaments in addition to hotel and dining accommodations for one year. With the option to choose his tournaments, Davenport intends to take a closer look at the world.

New champion has quickly adjusted to the prestigious tournament scene. In fact, pro promotions are a fashionable trend in online poker rooms, which are constantly trying to come up with creative ways to reward players. How he performs over the next year will show how a typical home-game player could perform on the biggest stage. "I want to leave this year with 1 million dollars in my pocket. It is one of those things where I really want to make the most of this opportunity and not take if for granted that I earned this right", Davenport said.
