Iloilo Governor Niel Tupas Sr. rejected an offer to operate jueteng game in the Iloilo province. In press conference with Capitol beat reporters Tupas refused to reveal the identities of the two Manila based game operators who asked his approval for operating in Iloilo.
Tupas said that it was the second time he was asked to approve operation of jueteng game in province. The first time he was approached by one of the two operators was before the 2004 elections.
Tupas said he is committed to prevent all kinds of illegal gambling from entering the province. Since his first term in 2001, Tupas consisted with his battle against illegal gambling and other illegal activities. In 2005, he claimed that he managed to clean the province from jueteng operations.
