US lobbyist Guy Dufault was recently caught saying that he had stuff during the taping of morning show on television. Dufault is a veteran lobbyist who is now working for Harrahs Entertainment Incs project to build a casino in Rhode Island. His unfortunate remarks could be used by the Republican Party, and particularly by Rhode Island governor Donald Carcieri, against the construction of that casino.
Carcieri is skeptical about the construction of a casino in Narragansett Tribe, in Rhode Island. He has led a strong opposition campaign against casino supporters. In the taping of a morning show on a local TV channel, Dufault said that he had stuff against Carcieri. He did not know that they were recording him, for they were just checking sound. He was having a hot discussion with Michael Levesque, who is a casino lobbyist too, as well as former chairman of the Republican Party, and former Rhode Island’s mayor.
A local TV station was the first to air Dufaults remarks, followed by Channel 28 and others. Carcieri was terribly irritated with Dufault and accused him of doing dirty politics for the sake of a tricky campaign led by people who are only interested in making money. He also stated that this attack to his person has been orchestrated by the unions and gambling lobbies with the only purpose to slander him and keep pushing to the construction of the Rhode Island casino.
