Internet Society of China suggested self-regulation to protect the media from pornography and gambling contents in a meeting took place on Saturday.
The Internet News Service Work Committee held a meeting on Saturday in Haikou, Hainan province. The issue of protecting the internet media from unhealthy contents such as gambling and pornography was brought up in the meeting.
According to Li Jiaming of Internet Society of China, they received more than 120,000 complaints from residents during 2005. 68.2 percent of the complaints were about pornography and 8.15 percent about online gambling scams. China internet market is the world second biggest market, after the US.
